Participant’s limits were certainly tested on Sunday. Chris braved the Prudential Ride 100 together with more than 20,000 other cyclists, making it the biggest cycling sportive which has ever been held in the UK. Continue reading
Eight months of preparation since we signed up to the Virgin Active London Triathlon 2014. Now let’s be honest, none of us were truly dedicated to our training until a few months before the triathlon. I’d say that we all started training properly for it around May-time, that’s when I started training regularly and that’s when the vibe around the office started becoming quite competitive.
In the weeks leading up to the Triathlon, we would take it in turns to train together, whether it was going for a long cycle to Box Hill or do a Triathlon trial to check our progress.
The Day of the Triathlon
We got to the ExCel Centre for 13:00, which would give us enough time to get ourselves organised before our race times – Isabelle at 15:10 and the boys, Chris, Simon and Martyn at 15:50.
Chris and Simon were no newbies to the Triathlon, unlike Martyn and I, but they were nice enough to explain to us how the course and how the transitions worked. We then proceeded to take our places to begin the triathlon.
Crossing that finish line is an exhilarating feeling. Our times were as follows:
So far, we have managed to raise £2,543.83 for the Alzheimer’s Society, which is absolutely great effort from everyone but we still have a long way to go before reaching our target. So any more donations to the Alzheimers Society are very welcome on our JustGiving page.
It’s that incredible time of year again, the Microsoft World Partner Conference and this year I had the honour of standing on stage to talk about TechQuarters and our Microsoft Azure Journey in front of two sets of 300 people in Washington D.C. Continue reading
Chris is on his second trip to the States this year. This time however, he is there for pleasure rather than work. His first day in San Francisco was, well.. a learning experience…
Chris took part in the Great London Swim tomorrow, Saturday 31st of August, where he swam 1 mile at 11:00 in the morning. It took place at the Docklands Sailing and Watersports Centre at Millwall Dock. Continue reading
The time finally arrived for Chris and Simon to do the Virgin Active Triathlon. They had been training for months and their time to shine was finally here. Chris started his swim, cycle and running competition at 07:30 on Sunday the 28th of July, and Simon at 08:00 in the morning. Continue reading
As if the Triathlon next weekend wasn’t enough for Chris. This weekend he took part in the 2.25 miles Hampton Court Swim, where he swam from Hampton Court Palace through to Kingston Bridge. He managed to complete his swim in just 60 minutes and 14 seconds, arriving 105th out of 1100 participants! Not bad for someone who started training two months ago. Continue reading
TechQuarters entered the Merton Business for the third time in three years. In 2011 we wont the Best New Business Award and in 2012 the Best Small Business Award. This year we entered three categories for the Awards instead of one and managed to become finalist in two of them. Continue reading
What a week its been!
Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th July
On Saturday Morning Chris and Alex grabbed a taxi at 6:45am to get to the airport to get to Heathrow before 07:30 as their flight to Houston was leaving at 09:30 for the WPC 2013. Their flight was initially delayed by two hours, then by another hour, and finally an extra hour. No surprise they felt the need for a coffee after the third announcement. However, after having a 10 minute coffee break from waiting, it was announced that the flight had already left – a slight problem. Continue reading
Last night TechQuarters attended the South London Business Awards 2013. It was an incredible evening with great people, lots of networking, and an unforgettable performance by ‘Singers in Disguise’.
The evening started off with Chris, Alex, Simon, Ben, Kelci and Isabelle attending the awards at the Park Plaza by the River Hotel in Embankment at 18:00, where we could grab a good glass of wine and talk to other SLBA participants.
